We would love to lend a helping hand by circulating all things – imported, local, meaty, cheesy, saucy, spicy… Being India’s only such forum, we aim to popularize this traditional craft for artisanal meats and all accompaniments that go with it. It is our dream to make Charcuterie accessible, cost-effective, easy to assemble and more creative with fans trying their hands. We invite professionals with their lavish photos of elaborate charcuterie boards to blog in. Also welcome are beginners or culinary college students / home chefs to post Charcuterie imagery and popularize their creations. Don’t forget that Charcuterie can also be a revenue stream for those taking it seriously.
Charcuterie is a creative art form that inspires. It is particularly useful for those looking for a fancy, exquisite and yet quick fix meal or snack. The biggest reason why Charcuterie is popular is because it does not require too intricate cooking. In most cases its just heat application and in many cases can be eaten raw as it comes frozen and chilled like salmon. There are few and easy instructions to be followed and the taste with flavours is guaranteed as good quality ingredients are used. Just about anybody with little or no knowledge of culinary skills can build or create it. It is ideal for meat-and-cheese enthusiasts, especially those who love gourmet foods. Charcuterie influencers on social media have overnight qualified themselves to become “artists” for their followers. The fad around stylized food in many ways mirrors the aspirational nature of fashion and lifestyle influencers on Instagram.
The new generation has moved from showing off our designer fashions, jewellery, handbags or expensive makeup to taking pride in showing off stylized food and Charcuterie is part of this new age movement. Social media has helped grow Charcuterie exponentially as anyone could afford a pack or a kit, place it on a board or platter one does not even have to have a kitchen to enjoy the delicacy. A well placed table and chairs are just fine enough to relish the same delights found in a fine-dine restaurant and prepared by a star executive chef.
The passion for Charcuterie doesn’t seem to be on the wane soon. At least not in India as the obsession over artisanal foods has just started. In India, it like what happened to Chinese food introduced decades ago, but still popular. In fact, it looks like India will spin off its own desi versions of Charcuterie, though we will continue to be as near to its origins as possible. We will keep it artisanal, handmade, quality meats, deli cheeses, great condiments, accompaniments…
